2alarm fire spreads to attic in Arlington home; 'large fire response' expected

ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) -- First responders in Arlington were at the scene of a house fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon.
The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) said officers and traffic safety specialists were dispatched to help with traffic control in the area of the single-
family home in the 2900 block of 24th Road N.
Arlington firefighters put out shed fire
Firefighters said smoke and fire were showing when crews arrived at the scene and that people should "expect a large fire department response."
By about 4:10 p.m., the bulk of the fire on the first floor had been put out, but units were still working to extinguish the fire that had spread into the attic.
Firefighters' tactics transitioned into a defensive attack with ladder pipe operations at around 4:30 p.m.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m., when the fire was upgraded to a two-alarm fire. ...read more read less
