FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A 24-year-old woman who was the first person in Fresno County to be charged with murder related to fentanyl in 2022 was found guilty on Wednesday, the county's district attorney announced. The DA's office says that on March 26, a jury convicted 24-year-old Cassidy Ma rie Gonzalez of second-degree murder in the fentanyl-overdose death of 41-year-old Jade Dreith. According to Dreith's sister, Sage Drieth, Jade took a pain pill to help her with back pain, but she had no idea that it was laced. 41-year-old Jade Dreith District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp says justice has been delivered to Jade's family after the first-ever jury conviction in a fentanyl murder trial in the county.
