FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Fresno hospital is getting a new robot to help make surgery less painful - hospital staff say it's the first of its kind in the valley.
Saint Agnes Medical Center announced Wednesday that they have acquired the Da Vinci® 5 surgical system, "the newest minimally-i
nvasive surgical technology."
According to hospital staff, it will make surgeries less invasive, less painful, lower the risk of complications, and reduce recovery time due to smaller incisions and greater precision.
They say the system can help treat certain cancers, including kidney, bladder, colorectal gynecologic and gastrointestinal cancer. It can also be used for a wide of surgical procedures, including hernia repair surgery, bariatric weight loss surgery and thoracic, stomach and esophageal surgery.

Per the robot's website, the technology will allow surgeons to deliver up to 43% less force on tissue through a "first-of-its-kind" Force Feedback technology.
