CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Legends Comics in Clovis hosted another superhero-celebrity signing — this time, giving X-Men fans the chance to meet two of the voices behind the iconic animated heroes.
According to Superfan and Legends Comics' Andy Cazares, every Wednesday is new comic book day a
t Legends Comics. But on Wednesday, March 26, Legends Customers were treated to the shop's latest meet and greet event introducing them to X-Men '97 voice actors Cal Dodd and Isaac Robinson-Smith.

Cazares says as a fan of X-Men comics, X-Men '97, and its predecessor X-Men the Animated Series, he was just as excited as fans in line to have the X-Men actors in the Central Valley.
"It is amazing. The people that I've read in the comic books are what taught me how to read English to begin with," Cazares said. "When I saw TV, I heard their voices in my head as I sounded up the English words - I'm going to meet them and tell them thank you for teaching me English."
Cazares says since the initial animated series that propelled the X-Men into mainstream media ended in 1997, it's been a marvel to see new fans of the series watch with their parents who grew up on the original.
"The parents are grown now, now they have their kids and they go, 'Hey, I enjoyed this as a kid. Maybe you might too,'" Cazares said. "They seem to be more fans than the parents were."
Parent and superfan Terry Rodriguez says he remembers growing up with the original animated series and being able to share the new continuation with his wife and kids has been a blessing.
"It means a lot to me. I got to experience that as a kid, and my kids now experience it with me," Rodriguez said. "We watched those first two episodes, amazing - and then, episode five, the sadness of it is just crazy. It makes my wife sob every single time."
Rodriguez and his friend Cory Patrick say they appreciate being able to have the superfan experience, and all that comes with it, in the Central Valley.
"We've been here since six in the morning," Rodriguez said. "I don't think we needed to be here that early, but just in case. And we're just excited to be here."
Rodriguez and Patrick say they met in a line at Legends Comics' largest meet-and-greet to date and the two have been good friends ever since.
Rodriguez and Patrick say being able to enjoy these meet-and-greets — and the camaraderie of waiting in line with friends — without having to drive hours away, is a big part of why they support Legends Comics.
"We see this happening in other places, the Bay area, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose - it's very rare when it happens in the Central Valley," Rodriguez said. "Legends Comics is stepping their game up."
Legends Comics' Staff Member Darren Hutchinson played a key role in the X-Men's appearance at Legends Comics and he says he's not surprised X-Men fans have transcended generations.
"X-Men represent two key points," Hutchinson said. "Family in the face of adversity and outsiders standing together - and that's what this generation really needs."
