CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Chesterfield County resident celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday. Barbara Spence celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday, March 26 at Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. Spence was born in Norfolk in 1925 and has lived in Chesterfield County since 1967. She married Perry Spence and had three children. Barbara Spence's son, Kevin Spence, told 8News that she loved raising her family, spending time with friends, the beach and Lake Gaston. Spence also likes to oil paint, garden flowers, read and sing. Spence has reportedly been a member of Branch's Baptist Church in Richmond since 1967 where she taught children, sang in the choir and was a present member of a team building churches and homes in areas all around the east coast and central parts of the United States. ...read more read less
