According to Care New England, 80% of Rhode Island's babies are delivered at Women & Infants.
The new facility is 18,000 square feet and doubles the size of patients’ rooms. Medical staff also no longer have to take newborns out of their mother’s room if the baby needs to be evaluated.
"This historic birth is a proud moment for Women & Infants and a symbol of our ongoing dedication to providing top-tier maternal care," Women & Infants President Shannon Sullivan said in a press release. "The Brown University Labor and Delivery Center represents the next chapter in our mission to offer the safest and highest-quality care."
