Crews battle massive junkyard fire, North Carolina officials say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Multiple emergency crews are responding to a fire inside a junkyard in Durham, according to officials.
Around noon Wednesday, crews responded to a vehicle fire on the 1200 block of Wrenn Road at Josea's Salvage Yard. When they got there, crews saw a massive cloud of smoke
in the area, prompting heavy fire unit presence in nearby neighborhoods.

CBS 17 was on the scene where clouds of smoke grew that were visible throughout nearby neighborhoods as well as from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport area.
According to the Durham Fire Department, there were no injuries reported at this time.

The fire was brought under control around 1:15 p.m. The county's fire marshal is leading the investigation to determine circumstances around the fire. ...read more read less
