LuxemburgCasco students explore career opportunities at trades event

LUXEMBURG, Wis. (WFRV) – More than 150 Luxemburg-Casco High School students got hands-on career experience Wednesday during the school's annual Trades Career Day.
Students participated in activities such as pipe welding and switch wiring, gaining real-world insights into skilled trades and job
opportunities.

"I think making connections is our biggest thing," said Will Simonar, a tech ed teacher at Luxemburg-Casco High School. "Finding out what is actually out there versus what we can just tell them. Having these people come in and explain what this job actually is, being experts in their field, and telling students what opportunities are available—I think they're realizing there are more local opportunities than they thought."
Representatives from several trade organizations attended, including Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 3, 9 and 11; Carpenters Local 1146; Engineers Local 139; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 158; Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 400; and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation 18. ...read more read less
