NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Parents continue to fight for justice after they say their children were abused by the daughter of the owner of Sweet Angels Daycare in North Tonawanda.
Savannah Huntington, the owner's daughter, was set to go to trial Wednesday, but it was adjourned.
Jasmine At
likhani, who said her son was abused at the daycare on Erie Avenue, was on her way to court when she was contacted and told the trial was rescheduled.
"It doesn't seem like we're going to have any type of closure anytime soon," she said. "They keep pushing it. It's more of a headache at this point."
Atlikhani was one of the parents who filed a complaint against the daycare after he son started behaving differently.
After an investigation last May, the Office of Children and Family Services issued the daycare a number of violations.
Sweet Angels Daycare was cited for the use of corporal punishment by staff, meaning “punishment inflicted directly on the body including but not limited to, physical restraint, spanking, biting, shaking, slapping, twisting or squeezing.”
Huntington, who is the daughter of Sweet Angels Daycare owner Kelly Doel, is facing three charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
"I would love for her to go to jail. I feel like anybody who puts their hands on children, especially toddlers, and uses them to get their frustration out, they need to go away for a little bit at least," Atlikhani said. "She shouldn't be able to be around children or work with children, no matter how many daycares her mother owns."
Huntington will be back in North Tonawanda court on April 16 for a trial.
Sweet Angels closed its North Tonawanda location last May following the criminal investigation. It also had a location in Newfane, but closed the location in 2023 after several employees were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
