Man arrested for domestic violence after allegedly crashing vehicle on purpose

(KRON) -- A Redwood City man is accused of domestic violence after police said he intentionally crashed his vehicle on Monday.
The Redwood City Police Department responded at 5:44 p.m. to 911 calls reporting a solo vehicle crash in the 500 block of Winslow Street. Witnesses saw the driver of the ve
hicle, later identified as 26-year-old Julio Cesar Cruz, walking away from the crash, according to authorities.
Arriving officers found an injured woman passenger outside of the vehicle. Police said Cruz “assaulted the female passenger, was driving recklessly and intentionally crashed their vehicle into a center divide.”

The woman was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. The vehicle had major front end damage and its airbags were deployed in the crash, Redwood City PD said.
Deputies with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office were nearby when they spotted Cruz and detained him. Once police said he was confirmed as the driver of the vehicle, he was arrested.
Cruz was booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility for kidnapping, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse, assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving.
