School bond project to resume in Greeley County after law certifies election

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The Greeley County school district is moving forward with renovations now that Gov. Laura Kelly has signed a bill certifying its school bond election results.
The Kansas Attorney General's Office originally blocked the $4.6 million due to a law requiring election notices t
o be posted on the county's election website. The county didn't have one.
The superintendent said the district resumed its projects as soon as it learned the bill would pass. He is happy with the outcome.

"I would have respected and dealt with the outcome either way, and I think it would have been a great learning experience either way, whether it passed or failed," Superintendent John Niehues said. "I think I've I think I have helped other schools ensure they don't fall into the issues I fell into since last September, October, November."
Neihaus said the projects will take anywhere between nine months and a year.
