Mar 26, 2025
OSAGE CITY (KSNT) - The KDC is deploying resources to help workers impacted by a recent plant closure in Osage County.
27 News spoke to the city manager of Osage City, Katie Hodge, following the closure of one of the city's largest employers. She said the city has been working with the Kansas Dep
artment of Commerce (KDC) and KANSASWORKS to provide support to those who abruptly lost their jobs. She said the KDC has deployed its rapid response team to help out with those who have been impacted by this situation.
The ORBIS Corporation announced on Friday, March 21 that it made the decision to shut down its Osage City facility. The 200,000-square-foot plastic manufacturing and warehouse space employed 79 people, according to a press release from the company.
The KDC website describes the rapid response team as a program to address layoffs by coordinating service and delivering support to affected employees.
