Metro operates the light rail Metrolink in Illinois and Missouri. It spans three separate counties and many cities.MetroLink started operations in 1993 when it ran from the 5th and Missouri stop in East St. Louis, IL to the North Hanley stop in the suburbs west of St. Louis. This 17 mile, 19 stop st retch was expanded in 1994 to reach St. Louis Lambert International Airport to the west and the East Riverfront stop in East St. Louis, IL. By 2001, the red line extended to the College stop in Belleville, IL, and by 2003, extended to Scott Air Force Base.Back in 2006, the blue line expanded from the Forest Park DeBaliviere stop to the Shrewsbury stop on the western border of St. Louis and the small suburb of Shrewsbury, MOThere are a total of 38 stations, I am going to cover the 13 St. Louis stations with a separate post on each station. Metro confirmed that the Skinker stop is in St. Louis, not University City, MO. I’ll kick it off in the east with the Laclede’s Landing stop following the blue/red line west to Skinker and then on to Shrewsbury/Lansdowne/I-44 stop.
