MADISON, Ind. (WISH) — A 19-year-old woman faces charges after she was accused of battery of a child at a Jefferson County elementary school.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday said the investigation started on Feb. 28 when a possible battery incident at Ryker’s Ridge El
ementary was reported to the Madison Consolidated School District.
Days later, a Jefferson County sheriff’s detective took over the investigation, speaking with multiple witnesses, school administrators, and possible victims.
As a result, Sammi Clark, of Madison, was arrested on Tuesday.
She was booked in the Jefferson County jail on a $5,000 cash bond. She was not listed as an inmate Wednesday morning.
She faces preliminary charges for six counts of battery on a person younger than 14.
It was unclear if Clark was an employee at Ryker’s Ridge or who the child was. News 8 has reached out to the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office and the school corporation for more information.
