MSPD: Suspect who stabbed victim, then was shot facing charges

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The Manitou Springs Police Department (MSPD) has made an arrest in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, March 25.
At around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a call reported a stabbing in the area of Deer Path Avenue and Oklahoma Road, near Manitou Avenue. Officers
and EMT's with MSPD responded immediately to the scene and transported two individuals to the hospital: one with stab wounds to the neck and another with gunshot wounds to the stomach and chest. They are both in stable condition.
Police investigating stabbing in Manitou Springs
Investigators determined that the suspect arrived at the victim's home and stabbed him in the neck while in the driveway. The victim, after being stabbed, shot the suspect twice. The stabbing victim then called 911 to report the incident.
The suspect has been arrested and is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and first-degree assault. He will be booked into jail upon release.
The shooter is not being charged at this time, as the current evidence indicates he fired at the suspect after being stabbed. The cause is still under investigation, but it is believed to be a marital or relationship-related issue.
There is no threat to the community, and all parties involved have been accounted for.
