Cheektowaga man charged with attempted murder following shots fired call in Amherst

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Cheektowaga man has been charged with attempted murder along with a slew of other charges following a shots fired report in Amherst Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to the Amherst Police Department, Shayne Ganoe, 33, was involved in a shots fired incident in the
area of Hopkins Road and Randwood Drive. It is alleged that he fired shots into an occupied vehicle while an order of protection was in place, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Offic. Police said he knew the victims.
Witnesses reported that a white pickup truck and grey SUV were possibly involved in the incident that occurred down the road from Williamsville North High School. The area was shut down by police for a couple of hours beginning around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Amherst police say the incident was not random and no one was injured.
Ganoe was arraigned on the following charges:
second-degree attempted murder
second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
reckless endangerment (2 counts)
second-degree criminal mischief
criminal contempt
second-degree menacing (2 counts)

He was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center. Ganoe is scheduled to return to court March 31 and faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted of the highest charge.
