Man dies Tuesday in Marion County Jail after being found unresponsive
Mar 25, 2025
A 40-year-old man died early Tuesday morning in the Marion County Jail after he was found unresponsive in his cell, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release Tuesday evening, the sheriff’s office said authorities were still investigating the cause and manner of Adam M
ansour’s death.
Mansour was found unresponsive in his cell just before 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday. The sheriff’s office, which operates the jail, did not clarify in its statement who found him.
“Despite immediate efforts by deputies and medical staff to administer CPR and call for additional emergency personnel, their lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, and Mr. Mansour was pronounced deceased,” according to the statement.
The sheriff’s office said it could not release any additional information about the death.
“Our deepest condolences go to Mr. Mansour’s family,” the agency wrote.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death as an outside agency, as required under Marion County Sheriff’s Office policy.
The reason for Mansour’s incarceration could not immediately be established as of Tuesday evening due to technical issues with the state court records website.
Sgt. Jeremy Schwab, Marion County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, told Salem Reporter in February 2024 that seven other jail inmates had died while in custody since the start of 2021. Of those, three died in the jail, Schwab said. The sheriff’s office has not publicly announced any additional deaths since then.
