Seven arrested in Butler Co. sex trafficking sting operation
Mar 25, 2025
EL DORADO, Kan. (KSNW) -- Multiple agencies across several states conducted a sting operation on Thursday. The sting ended with seven arrests Saturday. Six of the suspects are arrested under suspicion of soliciting sex from minors, and one on suspicion of felony sex trafficking.
Investigators say
the seven suspects have no connection to each other. According to the Butler County Sheriff this is the first sting operation of its kind in the county.
"These are, in my opinion, real bad guys we put in jail. And I'm happy to do it," Lt. Michael Shinert, detective with the Andover Police Department said.
On Thursday, March 20, the operation started when officers placed ads in commercial sex (prostitution) websites. The officers presented as teenage girls. Following the sting, Butler County Sheriff, Monty Hughey says they shut down the sites.
"This was something that we've been planning -- this operation or sting or whatever you want to call it, for the last month and a half," Sheriff Hughey said.
By Saturday, March 22, six took the bait and two have been charged:
Andrew Jordan Bikar, 22, is charged with aggravated human trafficking, electronic solicitation, commercial sexual exploitation of a child, indecent solicitation of a child, and promoting obscenity.
Shane Anthony Pitman, 39, is charged with aggravated human trafficking, sexual exploitation of a child, commercial sexual exploitation of a child, indecent solicitation of a child, and promoting obscenity.

"It's just something that I think most places, human trafficking is huge in the United States, and we wanted to be part of putting a stop to it," Lt. Shinert said.
The seventh person was arrested for attempting to sell sex with an 18-year-old girl to officers who were posing as a buyer. He caught a potential charge for "promoting the sale of sexual relations," which is a felony. The woman he brought with him was connected to resources through ICTSOS.
Officers worked with the advocacy group to support individuals engaged in sex work, offering them a path out of exploitation. Ten people were connected with services.
"Any time we can take criminals off the street and get some young women help it's always a success," Sheriff Hughey said. "[We hope we are] showing that we are out there. So, the next time somebody thinks they can get on a website and look for young girls, then they'll think twice about it."
The Butler County Sheriff's Office says the operation had two components: one targeting those seeking sexual relations with minors and another providing support to individuals in commercial sex work.
According to the sheriff’s office, the operation aimed to deter those seeking to exploit trafficking victims, vulnerable children, or engage in commercial sex in Butler County, while also providing “hope and a path to freedom for those being exploited.” ...read more read less
