New UNM receiver looks to solidify spot as goto guy

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Following the 2024 college football season, and a coaching change at UNM, a plethora of players either left or joined the Lobos. UNM is now underway with spring practices and finding its identity and new playmakers.
Among the new players standing out is junior colleg
e transfer Isaiah Blair. The 5-11 wide receiver had 20 offers last fall but said that the culture that coach Eck is building is what got him to UNM.
"I had some bigger programs I could've went to, but everything felt genuine," said Blair. "I love the coaching staff, I love the facilities, I love it. I told my parents there's nothing more that I need. Everything I need is here, so that was ultimately the big decision for me."
Each of the Lobos top four receivers from 2024 (Luke Wysong, Ryan Davis, Caleb Medford and Nic Trujillo) all left in the transfer portal. The option to come to a school and compete for the top receiver spot was also appealing for Blair.
"Yeah that was a big part in why I came here. [The room} was wide open. I saw an opportunity and I see and I believe in what coach Eck was telling me. I'm just excited.
