NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Firefighters with the New Orleans Fire Department responded to two incidents in the city on Tuesday afternoon, March 25. According to the NOFD, the first fire happened inside of a vehicle repair shop at 1217 Franklin Ave. in the 9th Ward neighborhood of New Orleans, with re port coming out at 3:55 p.m. On scene, the owner of the shop told first responders that a vehicle inside had caught fire and caused the blaze. The flames spread to two other vehicles inside and burned through the roof. Three other vehicles inside reportedly did not sustain significant damage. Dilapidated building catches fire in Mid-City: NOFD 10 units staffed with 30 fire personnel arrived on scene in six minutes, and had the fire under control in an additional six minutes, arriving at 4:01 p.m. and having the situation handled by 4:07 p.m. No injuries were reported. The second fire reportedly happened almost simultaneously in a New Orleans East single story brick home, located at 7500 Perry Street, with report coming out at 3:56 p.m. On scene nine minutes later, at 4:05 p.m., firefighters reportedly saw smoke coming from the attic of the house. The fire was however not visible until crews opened the attic space. The fire was brought under control by seven units staffed with 18 personnel in just over an hour, at 5:07 p.m. Significant damage was reportedly done to the house, however, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
