AISD teacher facing child porn charges also subbed at LASA, letter says

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- An Austin Independent School District teacher currently facing multiple child pornography charges previously substituted at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA), the principal said in a letter sent to families of the campus.
That teacher, 50-year-old Carl Innmon, remains u
nder investigation for possession of child pornography, a first degree felony, according to the district. He was a fifth grade teacher at Baranoff Elementary School.

Additionally, other charges now include possession of child pornography with intent to promote, a second degree felony, and possession or promotion of lewd visual material depicting a child, a state jail felony, according to officials.
District officials “immediately placed Innmon on administrative leave,” after they were informed of the investigation.
According to police affidavits, a search of Innmon's devices revealed more than 365,000 images of child sexual abuse. Among them were AI-generated images of two AISD students from the elementary school.
Parents of those Baranoff students were informed by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the AISD Police Department who were identified in the investigation.

The LASA magnet high school informed families, since Innmon substituted at the school 27 times between September 2023 to May 2024, the letter stated.
"We think it's important to share this information because he has now received additional charges related to AI-generated materials he created using photos of students within his classroom at Baranoff," the letter said.
Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the AISD Police Department informed those families of Baranoff students who were identified in the investigation.
The letter to LASA families said "at this time there is no evidence that any other students are involved in the case and it is believed that none of the photos were distributed beyond Innmon's personal devices."
