What is going on with Lebron James fans on TikTok? Fresno finds out
Mar 25, 2025
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - TikTokers have taken to their favorite social media app to praise their favorite basketball player with seemingly random, inexplicably high-effort parodies of some of the greatest musical hits of the last century.
The trend started near the Spring of 2025 and was made
popular by the "Man on the Lakers," a parody of the Grammy-nominated Michael Jackson song, "Man in the Mirror."
Since the trend began, dozens of parodies have sprung up - each praising James in their own way. While the discussion of who is the NBA's GOAT (greatest of all time), YourCentralValley.com set out to answer the question: What is the TikTok Lebron James parody GOAT?
Top talent and behind-the-scenes staff at KSEE24 and CBS47 listened to three of the many, many parodies on TikTok including, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," parody "Panic at Le Disco," and "I Kissed a Girl," parody "I Kissed Lebron."
The station's consensus winner is the parody that started it all: "Man on the Lakers."
All on-air talent polled voted for "Man on the Lakers," shutting down the competition, but not with some feedback for anyone looking to make new parodies, of which there are more and more every day.
According to KSEE24 anchor Brody Logan, the original trend-setting parody didn't try so hard to emphasize "glazing" Lebron. Co-anchor Taryn Mitchell not only agreed the other songs were "try-hards," but also added that the "Man in the Mirror" melody was nostalgic and called for a sense of universal happiness in audiences.
Taryn did say that as a millennial, her heart raced when she heard Panic at the Disco's famous melody parodied.
There are countless more parodies still being made on TikTok. While the KSEE24 and CBS47 newsroom seems sure nothing will top the original parody, there's still time for everyone else to cast their vote to decide.
