The purchase is being mostly funded through The Trustees, but they're also seeking $1.5 million from the public. Regional Vice President Wendy Ferris spoke to 22News about how they plan to use the land.
"So this is a great opportunity for us to re-wild part of the property allow the Brook to sort of regain its natural path through the land and to use the existing cart paths as a public recreational resource," Ferris said.
The Trustees need to raise the money by June 30 in order to go ahead with the purchase of more than 280 acres of land. They'll be hosting a Zoom event on April 16 and an in-person tour of the grounds on May 15.
If everything goes according to schedule, the project should be completed in the next one to two years.
