"I love seeing the faces, you know, the smiles on people's faces when they come out and pick,” Brenda Magruder said while sitting next to her husband Jimmy.
Jimmy and Brenda Magruder own the farm. They order bulbs for their business venture each May all the way from Holland. Then, they plant 100 rows in the fall when the temperature falls below 60 degrees. In another 100 days, the blooming begins where they sprout 100,000 tulips of over 30 different varieties.
"It's work for sure,” Jimmy said. “We want to look right."
The couple has been married for 40 years and bought what used to be a dairy farm a few years back. They started experimenting by growing things other than flowers originally.
"We tried watermelons and we tried cantaloupes,” Jimmy said.
It was the tulips that stuck.
"She likes flowers, I like playing in the dirt," Jimmy said mentioning his wife Brenda.
Visitors include family, friends and even tulip enthusiasts from neighboring states or far away towns who love to frolic through the flowers and pick their own. A process that has an art of its own.
"Grab all the leaf and stem as you can and just pull it up,” Jimmy said as he pulled a flower up.

The challenges of the Oklahoma weather delayed their opening this year, but not the final results of their hard work. A labor both Jimmy and Brenda would call a labor of love.
"It's just a it's a cool experience for us and a cool experience for them,” Jimmy said.
The farm is open Tuesday through Sunday. There is a $5 entry fee and it’s $25 for a dozen or just $3 per stem. Their best advice is to go on a Thursday or Friday afternoon before they get picked through over the weekend.
