His celebration of life was on Tu
esday at the Fishers Event Center, where a sea of blue sat for his college and high school colors.
His friends, family, and classmates shared their own "Mason moments", some of their favorite memories with him that they'll look back on.
“If he knew you were having a bad day, he would come and hug you,” said Rahvy Murray, his uncle. "That's the type of legacy and compassion Mason has left behind, truly."
Through song and prayer, his loved ones honored his memory. Many said that his smile could light up a room.
He was described as the most valuable player in every aspect of his life, not just on the field. They plan never to forget the legacy that he left behind.
“We look forward to carrying that on in such a way that's going to impact young people going forward, such as a foundation in Mason's honor, or something,” said Murray. "I think that would be something that may be coming down the pike to make sure that you don't forget #15.”His mentors also spoke about who he was.
Mason graduated a semester early and only spent a few months at Pitt University, but his teammates showed up for the service.
“He will always be a part of our family,” said Pat Narduzzi, coach at the University of Pittsburgh. "He is a forever Panther, forever 15.”
Jim Self, the athletic director at HSE, said that with his mother's blessing, he hopes for #15 not to be retired, but that future athletes who embody what Mason stood for can earn the right to wear it.

“Truth is, I need to see #15 on the field,” said Self. “His smile, his talent, his work ethic and his confidence. That's who I'd like to wear in the future #15.”
The crowd of his loved ones followed the casket out at the end of the service. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said that Mason's case is active and ongoing but that there are no new details to share at this time.
“We understand the public’s interest in this case, but as the investigation is still in progress, we are unable to provide additional information at this time," HCSO said. "We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation.” ...read more read less
