Man burns down home for insurance money, arrested for arson

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was arrested and charged for arson one year after his home burned down in 2024.
The Indianapolis Fire Department said that 22-year-old Gurpreet Singh was arrested in Ohio and extradited back to Indianapolis for multiple felonies including battery and arson.

ril 22, 2024, IFD was called to a house fire in the 5700 block of Tart Boulevard, in Franklin Township. Heavy fire burned through the roof and firefighters stayed on the defensive to put out the flames in an hour.
IFD said that nobody was home and there were no injuries from the fire.
Investigators say arson sparked the fire. The loss of the home was valued at $430,000.
After months of interviews, investigations, and search warrants, IFD says that Singh, the owner of the home, set the house on fire to collect insurance money.
March 24, 2025, Singh was charged with two felonies for arson with the intent to defraud.
