League of Women Voters urges lawmakers to oppose Trump administration actions

MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – The League of Women Voters sent letters to the region’s congressional representatives Tuesday, urging them to intervene against what they call illegal actions by the Trump administration.

“Federal government agencies, created by Congress, cannot be dismantled without the consent of Congress,” said Linda Bejella, League of Women Voters Appleton-Fox Cities president. “Money appropriated by Congress cannot be unilaterally paused or impounded by the executive. We demand that our congressional representatives—Democrats, Republicans, and independents—honor their oaths and protect us, their constituents, from this breathtaking power grab by the executive branch.”
Rep. Tony Wied responded to the criticism, saying, “The people of Wisconsin’s 8th District elected me and President Trump to implement an America First agenda, and that’s exactly what we are doing.
