Lack of three inch or more snowfall sets record
There has been very little snowfall so far this March t
hough, as only three-tenths of an inch of snow has been recorded in Fort Wayne. This is behind last year's seven-tenths of an inch total and well behind our 4.6 inch monthly average.
We're well below average for March snowfall so far this year.
The snow that has accumulated in big numbers this March has been off to our north, where snow is still on the ground on March 25th.

We have gone through another winter without a snowfall of three or more inches in Fort Wayne.
12 years ago though, we were digging out from a big March snowstorm! Over the course of March 24th and 25th, 2013, as much as 13 inches of snow fell in our area, with the highest totals being recorded in our southern counties.
Hefty snow totals were recorded 12 years ago on March 24th and 25th.
Hartford City was where the 13 inch two day total was seen, with Marion and Berne seeing double digit totals. Bluffton, Van Wert, and Huntington also saw over eight inches of snow. Here at the Fort Wayne International Airport, we picked up 5.6 inches of snow.

Our average last measurable snowfall comes in early April, so we are quickly approaching the end of the snow season.
