School District 49 voting on biological sex policy
Mar 25, 2025
(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — According to an agenda released by School District 49 (D49), on Wednesday, March 26, there is a plan to vote on a resolution acknowledging two sexes, male and female.
The resolution states that where D49 prioritizes student safety and equality as embodied in the langua
ge of Title IX, and the Board of Education believes there is a distinction between sex and gender expression and identity, along with President Donald Trump's two executive orders on gender ideology, the district is voting on a resolution acknowledging two sexes and separating bathrooms and sports along those two sexes.
According to the resolution, if passed, the board will direct the superintendent "where legally appropriate," to update any administrative policy, procedures, and facility agreements and usage guidelines to be consistent with the knowledge that there are only two sexes, male and female; unless specifically compelled by the state, ensure restrooms and locker rooms separate the sexes and take all legal steps to make sure the male sex is not competing in female sports.
D49 has a work session scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Peakview Hall, located at 3850 Pony Tracks Drive. ...read more read less
