30 prospects in 30 days: Trey Amos is a top cornerback ahead of NFL draft

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Widely considered one of the top cornerbacks in this year's draft class, Trey Amos had 13 pass breakups in 2024, the most by an Ole Miss defensive back in nearly a decade. He also added 3 interceptions.
Amos says lining up toe-to-toe with a wide receiver is a skill set th
at will carry over to the next level.
"I feel my man coverage, you know, just getting hands on the right receivers and, you know, just being able to, just do my thing. Just go out there and just compete," he said.
Amos' journey to the draft was a windy one. His college career consisted of 3 stops--- starting at the University of Louisiana, a 1-year pit stop at Alabama before landing in Oxford. Amos credits all those different experiences for preparing him for his next stop--- the NFL.
"Pretty much I feel like starting from Louisiana last year, just understanding how to play a cornerback and learning from, you know, the seniors back then, I feel like that made me build my confidence and brought it to Bama and Ole Miss, just trying to just keep on, you know, improving from next," he said.
Amos has good size and physicality, but NFL scouts believe tackling is an area he needs to improve. Trey Amos is projected to be a 2nd round draft pick.
