Belchertown police recover rifles, search for suspect

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - Belchertown Police are searching for a suspect after seizing two rifles near the railroad behind North Liberty Street Tuesday morning.

lice Department said that at approximately 8:46 a.m. on Tuesday, the Wilbraham Regional Communication Center received a report regarding a suspicious person. The caller reportedly stated that a man was seen placing two rifles near the railroad bed behind 221 North Liberty Street.
Belchertown officers arrived at the location and found two unloaded .22 caliber rifles. The Belchertown Police Drone Unit and the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit conducted a search of the area, but were unable to identify or find the individual.
