Portsmouth police charge woman with DUI while transporting 8yearold

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — Portsmouth police arrested a Bridgewater, Mass. woman Sunday night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with an 8-year-old child in the vehicle.
Kaleigh Maraglia, 33, is charged with DUI of liquor/drugs and DUI of liquor/drugs with a child under the age
of 13 passenger, according to Portsmouth police.
The arrest occurred Sunday night at approximately 9:36 p.m. when a Portsmouth police officer observed a vehicle following another car too closely, improperly changing lanes and drifting between lane dividers while traveling northbound on Route 24 near Sprague Street.
The driver, identified as Maraglia, was pulled over and the officer observed multiple signs of alcohol impairment and the odor of alcohol.
An 8-year-old child was also in the vehicle with Maraglia.
At this point, Maraglia submitted to and failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, according to police.
Open alcohol containers were allegedly found in the vehicle and Maraglia was transported to Portsmouth Police Headquarters where police say she consented to and failed a chemical breath test.
Maraglia was issued R.I. Traffic Tribunal citations, a district court summons and was released.
She is scheduled to be arraigned in 2nd Division District Court on June 3.
