JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Eleven people were forced from their homes after a fire broke out at a multi-family home in Johnston Tuesday morning.
Crews responding to the home on King Street around 7:45 a.m. were met with thick smoke, which made it challenging for firefighters.
No injuries were r
eported, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. Community members are also helping.
"We have some community members that are going to to the schools to help organize to get anything that we can to help out you know cause Red Cross is doing a great job and this is why we donate to Red Cross and we want to we wanna really try to make an impact and help these families out that are in distress," Lenier Esperanza said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
