FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker and members of the Public Works Division released an extensive list of infrastructure projects slated for 2025 during a news conference Tuesday. A major project which will impact traffic on West Jefferson was highlighted. The objective of the Leesburg Road Extension Project is intended to improve safety, extend Leesburg Road to West Jefferson Boulevard, and add a stoplight at the intersection with West Jefferson near SweetCars. The project will also bring ADA-compliant sidewalks, drainage improvements, street lighting, and urban landscaping. The new roundabout, which will be constructed at the intersection of West Main Street and Leesburg in 2026, will also receive a public art sculpture known as the Wounded Veterans Memorial Monument.
