BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) —  Voters in East Baton Rouge Parish will decide on Saturday, March 29 whether to renew a parcel fee that helps fund crime prevention and security measures in the Wedgewood Crime Prevention and Improvement District. The proposed measure would renew the fee st arting in 2027 and remain in effect for 10 years, ending in 2036. Funds collected from the fee would be used to enhance security patrols, increase law enforcement presence, beautify common areas, and improve the district’s overall safety and appearance. What’s on the ballot: Residential Parcels: $95 per year, with a possible increase to no more than $150 per year. Commercial Parcels: $250 per year, with a possible increase to no more than $400 per year. The estimated revenue from the fee for the first year is approximately $60,825. A “yes” vote would renew the parcel fee for the district, while a “no” vote would end the fee. Voting information: Absentee ballots: Requests must be made by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25. Requests can be submitted online or in writing through the Registrar of Voters Office.
