COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- An Ohio man who was wanted in connection with a Toledo teen's death was shot Tuesday morning by a SWAT officer in the Victorian Village neighborhood in north Columbus, according to police. The shooting happened in the area of Dennison Avenue and West 2nd Avenue. Lt. Brian Steel, president of the local police officer's union, said the suspect was wanted in connection with the homicide of a 13-year-old out of Toledo, and called it "one of the most horrific cases I ever heard." Steel said the 13-year-old was murdered, raped, and had her hands cut off. "This is an absolute animal that came into our town," Steel said. The 13-year-old was reported missing, and her body was found in an abandoned house on Monday, according to NewsNation. Her father, Darnell Jones, was initially charged with abduction, but has since been charged with murder. "You murder somebody, do not come to this town," Steel said. Police: Dead dogs found at home of Madison County trainer Jones, 33, had a gun and was shot by SWAT officers, police said. The officer involved in the shooting reportedly fired multiple times at Jones, though it is unclear if Jones returned fire. Jones was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive after a "lengthy surgery". He is in what was described as "stable" condition. Police said that a car that may be connected to the case was towed from the scene. "You pull a gun at officers, as we've said many times, this is the outcome you could expect," Steel said. No officers were injured and there is no threat to the public, according to Sgt. James Fuqua. Jones, who is charged with murder, felonious assault and abduction out of Lucas County, was the last person to see the teen before she went missing, according to a criminal complaint.
