Woman dies in hospital after crash in Prince William County

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Police said a woman died in the hospital following a crash in Gainesville on Monday night.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, on March 24, around 9:48 p.m., officers were called to the Linton Hall Road and Glenkirk Road area for
a single-vehicle crash.

An investigation revealed that a woman was driving a Toyota Highlander on Linton Hall Road when she swerved into oncoming traffic. She then left the roadway and hit a guardrail.
Police said the SUV continued and became airborne before traveling down an embankment and rolling into a grassy field.
The driver, 52-year-old Marat Lise Essex, of Bristow, was taken to the hospital, where she died.
Prince William County police are still working to learn what caused Essex to crash.
