FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - For over 40 years, Lois Winder has been an educator. She has dedicated her life to her students, staff, and family. Her faith has helped shape her into who she is today and she has formed relationships that stretch beyond the classroom.
"I think it started with my paren
ts," said Winder. "That many years ago, they brought us up. I went to St. Charles and Bishop Dwenger and they instilled that faith in us."

In 2003, Lois became the principal of the joint St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. In August 2014, St. Elizabeth and St. Joseph separated into independent schools. Then Lois became the first and only principal at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School, where she absorbed all aspects of being an educator.
"Every day you just want to keep doing and keep doing and just make sure we do everything we can for them here," Widner said.
Those around her express their gratitude for her commitment.
"Dedicated, you'll often see her here on the weekends working when we are all at home," said Shelley Tourney, Administrative Asst. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. "She gives 100% and then some to her job here at the school."
"Lois is definitely the glue that holds us all together," said Susie Black, Lois' sister. "She's always there for everybody no questions asked she will do anything for anybody."

Even some of her youngest students appreciate her kindness.
"She is really nice," said Allison Williams, 1st grade student at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. "I like her voice, she uses her manners and she helps people."

Her students from the past even will come to see her from time to time and always enjoy her company.
"She would always be smiling, she would be so joyful," said Jose Solis, a former student. "It changed your perspective of the day."
"She is just full of love and love to give," said Maria Solis, a former student.
Theresa Carroll, who nominated Lois for WANE 15’s Remarkable Women recognition, has a friendship that stretches beyond the classroom.
"I am just thankful for her friendship and that she's there for me when I need her," said Carroll. "She is there to celebrate with me and to cry with me."
"You're only remarkable if you have remarkable people with you."
