Warm, dry and breezy conditions will crank up the fire danger across the Carolinas today with highs reaching the mid 70s this afternoon. A cold front will slide throu
gh, stirring up strong southwest winds this afternoon, gusting 20-30 mph. Humidity levels will crash below 25%, creating a prime environment for fires to spark and spread fast. Naorth and South Carolina are already under statewide burn bans, and a Red Flag Warning may be needed tomorrow if these conditions hold. We’ll stay dry with temperatures going from the upper 60s midweek back otward 80 by Friday. Rain chances fianlly return Sunday into Monday with back to back systems — some storms are possible — but until then fire weather remains are biggest concern.
