(KTLA) -- The popular jam band Goose has announced the departure of its drummer over alleged personal "behavior" issues.
In a statement posted to social media on Sunday, the group revealed that Jeff Arevalo was no longer part of the band, citing a cryptic "unfortunate, unexpected situation."
"
We have been made aware of behavior in Jeff’s personal life that does not align with the band’s core values," the statement read. "It is clear that this is the only way forward as we remain committed to upholding the values that define our community."

Goose, formed in Connecticut in 2014, has toured relentlessly thanks to the enduring appeal of psychedelic rock popularized by the Grateful Dead, Phish, the String Cheese Incident and other contemporaries.

Arevalo, who joined Goose in 2020, issued his own statement on Monday. In it, he acknowledged a "personal crisis" that he brought to the band's attention in January but shared little about its nature. He said he took a mental health break and underwent a "program" in Washington state.
"I studied emotional issues, spoke with many counselors, and worked in a group therapy setting with an open heart and mind," Arevalo wrote. "I journaled daily, wrote poetry, and played music with my roommate."

After leaving the program, Arevalo said he received an email from Goose’s lawyer informing him of his dismissal.
"I do not feel that I was rightly respected, valued, or properly utilized during my time with the organization," he said, adding that he refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
"I wish Goose well on their journey. I’m pursuing other opportunities where I can be more involved in the songwriting process, creative direction, and work in a properly equitable environment." ...read more read less
