Teacher, staff layoffs coming to Holland school district
Mar 25, 2025
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Multiple teachers are set to be laid off at Holland Central School District after the school board voted to do so at a meeting on Monday night.
It's unclear exactly how many layoffs there will be, but the cuts are expected to impact physical education, special education a
nd music. The school resource officer is also on the list of projected cuts. There will also be cuts to several programs within the district.
The decisions were made due to rising costs within the district, board members said, while the district's income stayed the same. Slight modifications were made to the original plan, including putting one of three music positions back into the district.
Several area school districts have made cuts to their teaching staff in the past year, including Buffalo Public Schools, West Seneca Central School District and Hamburg Central School District.
Now, the board will vote on a budget during a special board meeting on April 7. If the budget is approved, it will go out to the town for a vote in May.
