Two adults without a home after Chesterfield kitchen fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two Chesterfield County residents are without a home following a kitchen fire Monday night.
At about 9:47 p.m. on Monday, March 24, crews with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to the 1600 block of Inspiration Drive for report of a house fire.

oke to Assistant Fire Chief John Boatwright at the scene, who said the first firefighters arrived within five minutes of the initial call. They found a three-story home on fire, with flames pouring from a window.
They entered the house and began battling the fire, Boatwright said, adding that they put it out quickly.

The flames caused significant damage to the home -- particularly in the kitchen, which is where it started. Boatwright said the fire's cause is believed to be cooking-related. It then spread to other rooms.

Kitchen fires have been on the rise in Chesterfield in the first three months of 2025. This kitchen fire marks the 33rd such fire since Jan. 1.
One person was home at the time of the fire and was able to get themselves out safely before firefighters arrived, Boatwright said. He was not hurt.
