Over 3,000 homes, businesses were without power in Chesterfield, Powhatan

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 3,000 Dominion Energy customers in Chesterfield and Powhatan counties were without power for hours Monday evening.
At the peak of the outage on Monday, March 24, just over 3,100 homes and businesses were without power in the area of World War II Memorial High
way (VA-288) and Midlothian Turnpike. Most of the affected customers were north of that interchange.
According to Dominion Energy, the majority of the impacted customers were in Chesterfield, with some in Powhatan.

Dominion Energy reported that power was to be restored between 11 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday, March 25. As of 10:45 p.m., only about 280 customers are still without power.
The cause of the outage is marked as an "equipment problem."
