KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- We are just a few days away from Opening Day for the Kansas City Royals.
A new season brings new food items to the concession stands.
The taste of victory may return to The K beginning Thursday. New menu items, some of which have been planned since last October, will be a
vailable for fans hungry for a win and hungry for a bite to eat.
"There's a ton of fan feedback that comes after every single game," said Corbey Stevens," Aramark resident district manager at Kauffman Stadium.
And it all factors into menu planning, according to Stevens. Aramark's staff is introducing the new "Slugger dog" which has a tempura batter and the Kauffman fried chicken quesadilla.
Royals officials say 11 local brands are involved in the gameday product they present.

"We try to sit there and navigate and say, what is local? What does the food scene mean, and how do we incorporate it ourselves? And how do we talk to our partners and merge the two? Stevens said.
Beginning this season, Joe's KC Barbecue will become one of those local partners. A new kiosk beyond right field will offer the popular Z-man sandwich in either chicken or beef.
"During nine innings, inevitably, nobody just sits in their seats," Royals Chief Operating Officer Jason Sinnarajah said. "They go for a beer, or they get some food, you bring your kids or families or a date. So, we want to be able to offer different items that cater to everybody's tastes."
And to wash it all down, Boulevard Brewing serves its newest suds, Crown Town. This is a light, crisp lager that will go great with food or on hot summer days, according to Boulevard's Adam Hall.
"People's tastes and preferences have elevated over the past four decades. Boulevard has been there along the way. We look to our consumers as well. We want to know what they like," Hall said.
All of these items will be available at various locations around Kauffman Stadium, when the home schedule against Cleveland on Thursday. That's a 3-10 first pitch. ...read more read less
