WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- As peak bloom inches closer in the District, the city's iconic Yoshino cherry trees are starting to show open blossoms. "It's been a gray day around the Tidal Basin. While most of the cherry blossoms remain in Stage 5: Puffy White, some trees -particularly around the MLK Memorial- are showing open blossoms," the National Park Service (NPS) said Monday afternoon, in a social media post. "It all depends on the weather, but we're expecting Peak Bloom this week."
