Over 100 pounds of drugs hidden in car roof driving up I5 in Fresno County, DOJ says

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Over 100 pounds of narcotics were found hidden in a car's roof after a traffic stop in Fresno County, the United States Department of Justice said.
According to the DOJ, officers pulled over 42-year-old Jose Miguel Perez of Corona while driving north on I-5 i
n Fresno County.
After searching through the car's compartments, the DOJ says police found 56 kilograms of various narcotics; 7 kilograms of cocaine were found in the ceiling, while an additional 37 kilograms of cocaine, 10 kilograms of heroin, and 2 kilograms of ketamine were hidden in the car’s roof.
Perez pleaded guilty Monday to cocaine and heroin trafficking, the DOJ says. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 23 and faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison. ...read more read less
