(WGNO) — Additional arrests have been made in connection with the investigation of the death of a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office sergeant. On Sunday, March 23, the STPSO reported that deputies began a pursuit after a car driven by 17-year-old Adrian Waughtal allegedly fled a traffic stop on Brownswitch Road, leading deputies on a chase. Hammond police chief details 14-hour search for captured alleged kidnapping and rape suspect During the chase, STPSO officials said Sergeant Grant Candies was deploying a spike strip on Interstate 10 near the Oak Harbor exit when he was fatally hit by the fleeing vehicle. The New Orleans Police Department reported that the chase entered Orleans Parish around 12:30 a.m., and an NOPD officer entering the interstate to assist with the chase "was struck by the perpetrators' vehicle" near Crowder Boulevard. Adrian Waughtal (Courtesy: St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office) STPSO officials said Waughtal was arrested and booked in Orleans Parish as a fugitive before being transported to St. Tammany Parish, where he faces charges of aggravated flight, first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. On Monday, the STPSO announced that 17-year-old Mason Paul Eugene Fischer and 17-year-old Michael Emanuel Lanier were arrested in connection with the investigation.
