KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On Monday, FOX4 got a clearer picture of how fans will be able to get to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to go to one of the city's six FIFA World Cup matches.
KC2026 Chief Executive Officer Pam Kramer and Chief Operations Officer Lindsey Douglas said there will be KC Park an
d Ride locations, spots where fans get out of their cars, park in a parking lot and then take another form of transportation to head to a match. Monday, Douglas was asked whether fans will be able to drive themselves to the Truman Sports Complex.

"If there is any, which I think is still to be determined, it will be greatly reduced from what it is today," Douglas said in response. "So, we are anticipating most everyone will be taking that bus service from a Park and Ride location or from downtown and Fan Fest to the stadium to attend a match."
Monday's news conference was done virtually through Microsoft Teams. Kramer and Douglas presented and then the leaders responded to previously emailed questions to them. Reporters were not allowed to speak after the presentation was over Monday.
One question we had for them was how they could get the Kansas City Chiefs on board with KC2026's efforts after a number of people told FOX4 at the end of February the team was upset with losses to concert revenue they have to take on due to construction that needs to happen to the lower bowl of Arrowhead to widen the field or pitch.
"Construction has started. The demolition has started. The seats are out," Kramer said in response to a general question about stadium seating and construction on the lower bowl specifically.
Monday was the first time Kramer has spoken to FOX4 on camera since our February report on the Chiefs' concerns. The Chiefs wouldn't comment Monday but did tell us at the end of February, construction would be completed on time.
"Everything is on track there," Kramer continued, talking about the lower bowl construction. "Arrowhead's a great partner. The Chiefs are a great partner along with our other venue partners, the Current, Sporting, and Rock Chalk Park at KU, so everything is on track, everything is on track there."
Three soccer teams could have their Base Camps in the metro. One could be at the KC Current's training facility in Riverside, Sporting KC's Compass Minerals National Performance Center in KCK, and KU's Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.

In December, we'll find out what teams will be playing their matches in the city. Kramer compared that to 'Selection Sunday' for the NCAA March Madness tournament for men's and women's college basketball.
Monday, there were 443 days to go until the first match at Arrowhead June 16. There will be three more Group Stage matches on the 20th, 25th, and 27th of that month. There will be a Round of 32 match on July 3 and a Quarterfinal match on July 11 of 2026. ...read more read less
