EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A 51-year-old man is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated after he was found unconscious behind the wheel early Monday morning, March 24, Horizon City Police said.
Horizon Police said they arrested Roberto Ortiz, 51. He was taken to El Paso County Jail on a charge
of driving while intoxicated third time or more and booked with a bond of $50,000.
At about 2:35 a.m. Monday, officers from the Horizon City Police Department responded to a report of a driver asleep behind the wheel at 500 Darrington.
Officers found the vehicle and suspect, who was later identified as Ortiz.
During the investigation, police said Ortiz showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested.
Horizon City Assistant Chief Jose Kluge said: “Our Police Department have increased their enforcement efforts during the St Patrick’s Day and Spring Break session. Driving while intoxicated is a serious offense which places our community in danger. Please ensure you use a ride share or make other arrangements for transportation if you are away from home and plan on drinking.” ...read more read less
