(COLORADO SPRINGS) —The revitalization project to give Tejon Street in Downtown Colorado Springs a facelift has started as of Monday, March 24.
The project will widen sidewalks, making them more accessible and add patio space for local restaurants. The project will also make the two-block stret
ch of Tejon a one-way street starting at Colorado Avenue and ending at Kiowa Avenue.
The first phase of the project started at Colorado Avenue and will stop at Pikes Peak Avenue. The only closures drivers need to know about is northbound Tejon, with restaurants, sidewalks, and southbound traffic remaining open.
"We're looking at about six to eight weeks to kind of get this side and then we'll switch, that six or eight week rhythm, for the different sections," said Community Public Works Manager for the City, Richard Mulledy.
Mulledy also said the city is giving local business free two-hour parking vouchers to hand out and reminds the community that there is a parking lot just a block away.
You can always use the city's website or app to check on the current construction through the project.
The full project is expected to be completed by the end of summer. ...read more read less
